On Sunday, November 16, the Girls on the Run Club from Salemwood school participated in the end of program Celebratory 5K at Boston Common.
The students in the club had practices twice a week between September and November. In practices, the students learned "a lot about themselves and what makes them unique, how to motivate themselves and others, and about their “I Can! Power,”" said advisor Andrea Siegel.
At the event on Sunday, students were able to prove their accomplishments by completing a 5K alongside an adult running buddy. "Thank you to the students, families and staff that came out this morning to support and run/walk the 5K with our students. Each year the event gets bigger and bigger and the outcomes. Lots of smiles and fun had by all!!" said Principal Van Huynh.
