Malden School Superintendent Dr. Timothy Sippel’s Contract Extended

Mayor Gary Christenson is pleased to announce that the City has extended the contract for Malden’s Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Timothy Sippel. The School Committee unanimously approved a two-year extension to his initial contract at its November 10th meeting. The updated term of his contract runs through June 2029.

“Superintendent Sippel is meeting both educational and leadership goals as well as improving school culture and climate among both students and staff,” said Mayor Christenson who also chairs the School Committee. “He has truly been a welcome addition to the school community.”

“Superintendent Dr. Sippel has brought a sense of stability and direction to the Malden Public Schools. This contract extension reflects the School Committee’s confidence in and appreciation for his leadership. Dr. Sippel is not only a visible and engaged presence in our community, but also a strong communicator who works tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure progress,” said School Committee Vice Chair Jennifer Spadafora. “His commitment to students, staff, and families is evident both in the results we’re seeing and in the renewed sense of trust and collaboration across the district.”

“I am extremely grateful for the trust and partnership of the Mayor and School Committee,” said Superintendent Sippel. “I greatly appreciate the Committee’s confidence in the efforts already underway, and I look forward to continued partnership with the School Committee, our educators, our students and families, and the broader Malden community in the years ahead. My team is deeply committed to doing right by all students, embracing the capacity of every individual to grow, and leading our work in an inclusive and collaborative way. The students of the Malden Public Schools deserve nothing less.”
